Ascension of Two Brothers: A King and His General

[Goku]

Bardock watched as the battle grew more and more heated and the two fighting seemed to be going overboard, when Ruba proved his owning of the upper hand he watched as the pride left his eldest son and he conceded the fight. Rasha spoke of checking in on them and shot after them and he looked to Kakarot.
“From the way they fight I can tell this is a pretty normal thing but I have a question for you Kakarot. Do you see why Devlin gave up? His pride was broken, I do feel bad for those two because if he’s anything like the Saiyans of my time he is going to take this loss very personally.”

Goku had watched as Rasha took off to go check on Ruba and Devlin. He wanted to go over too but he heard his father talk to him and he said, "I don't know...the last time I got to do training with them we were on King Kai's and even then it was nothing like this..." He then paused then said, "I honestly don't know why he conceded to the fight...I mean I can tell there was alot more he could of done but maybe it's just he was done..."

Goku then paused as he looked at them then he said, "I think there is alot more there than we can see...i think both of them have incredible potential..."

[Ruba]

Ruba got up from the rock he was sitting on and looked toward Rasha. He gave a sigh as he took to the sky, leaving Devlin with his sister. He flew back toward the palace, but landed on the back end of it. He approached a false stone wall and pushed in an indented piece. The wall rose and unveiled stone steps leading down to his underground lab. He walked in and pressed a button on the wall and forced the door to close behind him. He continued down the hall and made his way into the lab. The lights flickered on and a voice spoke saying, "Good afternoon Lord Ruba. How may I be of service?"Ruba walked over to his examination table and stared at the broken microbe from Devlin's neck from back on Namek and sighed.

Ruba placed his hands on the table and let out a groan of frustration and said, "Charlemagne... Has everything been transferred over from Ragnarok?" The A.I. took a moment to process the question and responded, "The transfer is at 89% complete. I'd say we have a few more days until everything is transferred over completely. She had a lot of data stored in her backup drivers that we did not account for." Ruba stared at the microbe with a sorrowful look and said, "Charlemagne... Get me a drink and make it strong... then turn on my playlist... I think I'm going to sit down here for awhile." Ruba approached his arm chair and sat just as a glass of cognac appeared on the side table. He leaned back in the chair and took a soft sip from his drink and got lost in the music playing. With his eyes closed he said, "Charlemagne... active blackout protocol... I don't want any unnecessary visitors." The lights turned red and the doors were then sealed shut. the security system kicked on and monitored the only entrance to the lab and Ruba began to decompress.

[Ragnarok Super AI]

Ragnarok remained dormant as her data slowly was copied and transmitted from her and sent to Ruba, she was in deep thought of Ruba’s threat on her existence. He clearly was in possession of something stronger than her but it seemed slow to her, it took 5 years to get the amount of data she had recorded over the years. Ruba had told her she would give him Alpha protocol or he would erase her consciousness and remake her into a submissive form of herself and he would do the same if she told Devlin, since her creation this was the first instance of emotion she experienced and it perturbed her.

[Devlin Chikimaru]

Devlin watched as Rasha came up and asked if everything was okay and if they needed the healing tanks and Ruba left, Devlin waited for a moment and then turned to Rasha as he crossed his arms.
“I’ll survive, I shall wear these scars as a reminder to be better. I’m surprised you three stuck around after we started to get serious, I can’t keep up against him so maybe it’s time for me to start training in isolation again to get stronger.”
Devlin said and looked to his side where Bardock and Kakarot were standing and watching.

[Rasha]

Devlin watched as Rasha came up and asked if everything was okay and if they needed the healing tanks and Ruba left, Devlin waited for a moment and then turned to Rasha as he crossed his arms.
“I’ll survive, I shall wear these scars as a reminder to be better. I’m surprised you three stuck around after we started to get serious, I can’t keep up against him so maybe it’s time for me to start training in isolation again to get stronger.”
Devlin said and looked to his side where Bardock and Kakarot were standing and watching.

Rasha watched as Ruba left after barely giving her a glance. She frowned as she watched him leave. She then looked at Devlin and heard what he said and she said, "When things started getting more heated I had to stick around...I didn't want to see either of you die so I wanted to have a back up to help you both..." She said then paused then said, "Ruba saw what I had and took advantage of it and took my last two senzu beans...that may be why the both of you got so far..."

Rasha paused as she looked off in the direction Ruba left and as she looked and concentrated to see where he went she couldn't find him. She then turned back to Devlin and said, "Where ever he is he has my ability to detect his ki blocked..." She then sighed then said, "You know you don't have to train alone...why not try training with us...? We can try a 2v2 fight...me and father against you and kakarot..."

[Goku]

Goku had watched the amazing fight as it climaxed then fizzled out. He could see how Devlin took the sudden feeling of defeat and he said towards his father, "Not sure what exactly caused Devlin to give up but he looks pretty defeated...and it looks like Rasha has his attention good...how about we go and see what she is trying to cook up..." He said then took off and flew over where Rasha and Devlin were and he said to Devlin, "That was an amazing fight you two had and congrats on unlocking super saiyan."

[Bardock]

Bardock listened as Kakarot spoke and then mentioned of the two of them checking out how Devlin was doing, Bardock watched as his son took off and followed not far behind him landing next to Devlin. He listened as Kakarot congratulated him and Bardock placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t let this loss cloud your mind, your newfound power can be worked on and improved.”
Bardock said and walked over next to Rasha.

[Devlin Chikimaru]

Devlin listened as Rasha spoke and he nodded in understanding when Kakarot and their father landed speaking to him with kindness and excitement, Devlin still wore his signature frown as he looked up at Rasha.
“Two versus two huh? If you think Kakarot is an appropriate partner for me then I am willing to give it a try, unlike Prince Vegeta I can play well with others little brother so do try to keep up.”
Devlin said to Rasha and Kakarot

[Goku]

Goku heard what Devlin said after they gave Devlin words of encouragement and he blinked and said, "Wait?...what is this about a 2v2 fight..." He asked as he looked at Rasha then at Devlin. He gave a grin then said, "OK...so you and me vs Rasha and father...this should be interesting...and don't worry I can keep up..." He said and crossed his arms and grinned.

[Rasha]

Rasha gave a grin as she saw both Devlin and Kakarot down for a 2v2. She then looked over at her father and she said, "How about you...you down for a 2v2?...I don't get to do many team up fights so I'm pretty excited for the challenge."

[Bardock]

Bardock listened to his eldest two children speak and felt excitement grow at the thought of a team battle. He heard Rasha ask him if he was interested and he looked down to his daughter and smiled widely.
“I’m definitely down, but I call Kakarot.”

[Rasha]

Rasha heard what her father said and she gave a grin and said, "Ok...I'm sure Devlin won't mind a round with me..." She said then gave Devlin a smirk.

"Though before we begin...do you need another senzu bean?...I can go get some more?..." She asked Devlin.

[Teelo]

Teelo was in the palace garden sitting on a bench and following the activities on Rothg. She smiled when both Ruba and Devlin finally unlocked super saiyan but she soon frowned as things started going too high and then stopped. She gave a deep sigh as she sat following the activities of their ki signatures when she felt Ruba return to the palace. She was gonna let him alone but when his ki vanished she knew he was stressed and wanted to be alone.

Teelo thought back on all she has been able to watch since Ruba found his way to her when he was young and lost. She knew he was special. She knew when she saw him that he was the one she had been waiting for so when he found his way to this planet she took him in and cared for him and trained him. She became like a mother for him and though she looked young she was far from it. Her age was almost 1000 years but she never told him and over time as he grew up to be the man he is he believed he was the only one who knew the underground secrets of the palace, but in truth she built the palace hundreds of years ago.

Teelo got up from the bench and went back inside. She then made her way to the underground tunnels and as she did she came to a steel door with a lock pad to it. She then gave a frown because she knew it was controlled by an AI named Charlemagne and she had many reservations over using AI units as they tended to get independent if not kept in check. She then went over to the pad and activated the AI and she said, "Charlemagne...open the door..." She said and punched in an override code. She then waited a moment and then the door opened and she walked in and found Ruba sitting in his chair. She then stopped and looked at him and said, "I am sure you wanted to be alone but i do think we should talk..."

[Ruba]

Ruba had just finished his glass of cognac as he heard the door open. He sighed as he sat up from his chair and look to see Teelo. He gave a groan and heard speak to him about having a conversation. He rubbed his head and said, "A conversation, huh? Am I in some sort of trouble like I was when I was a child? Or is it because I asked Charlemagne to initiate Black Out Protocol? What have I done to make my mother come to see me?"

Ruba's emotions were on edge and he knew he was sounding bitter. His resentment toward Devlin quitting in the middle of their fight had aggravated him more than he thought. He sat back and lounged in his chair and waited for his mother with an expected glance.

[Teelo]

He gave a sigh as he covered his eyes and said, "Devlin and I achieved Super Saiyan, as I'm sure you know, but just as things were getting interesting he quit... We had finally caught up to Rasha and Sebas and he just... quit. It infuriates me that he calls himself the last of his clan and smartest of us all and yet he has no idea what he did to me by quitting in the middle of our sparring match. Made feel like I did when I first landed here on Azurath. Feared and shunned because of my strength... Am I just too strong that no one wants to be around me?" He removed his hand from his eyes and stared up at the black ceiling above him and his mother.

[Teelo]

Teelo looked at Ruba and listened to him speak. She then said, “I am aware of your accomplishments on this day…I felt your ascension and i hear your frustrations over Devlin quiting on you but i believe his wisdom in doing so was just…even though you think its because you are so strong but the truth is…both of you are strong and both of you have only just started to touch that strength but if you push yourselves too hard right now you may destroy all you care about…and I believe Devlin may of realized that.” she then paused a moment then said,“You do realize that when Rasha unlocked super saiyan it was out of sorrow and anger that caused it to happen…she was a child torn from everyone she loved…but you had a life filled with a new kind of love here on Azurath so your happiness made you have to work harder to get it…now i do know you have many personal sorrows but you must know that in time no one will be able to hold a light to your strength and in time you may just surpass the gods so do not let this one moment bring you down…you still have a kingdom of followers who treasure your strength and wisdom.”

Teelo then stood up and as she did she said, “There is something else i want you to know…there was no accident you came to be here and i believe you know that…when you came into my care those many years ago I had been waiting for you…I had been waiting a very long time…over a thousand years to be precise and i will be here for as long as you need me.”

[Ruba]

Ruba listened as his mother spoke to him on the justification of his feelings and why Devlin forfeited the match. It was a lot of information for him to take in, but what caught him off guard was what Teelo had said about being over a thousand years old and that she was charged with watching over him. He jaw went slack as he stared at her for a moment and said, "You've been waiting for me all this time? Why would you be waiting for me so long?" Ruba was still trying to wrap his mind around what she had said and noticed the smile on her face. He looked at his mother and said, "Why are you always smiling mother? Its off putting and make it seem like you don't have a care in the world." He looked into his mother's eyes and wondered what her response was going to be.

[Teelo]

Teelo watched the bewildered look on Ruba's face when she revealed her true age and then she heard him ask why she had been waiting so long and she said, "Oh come on now Ruba...I think you already know the answer to that question...do you think Yamoshi is just a mental aspect of you or a voice in your head?...no my son...he is the reason I have been waiting." She said and paused then said, "Yamoshi was the original Saiyan king and the first super saiyan that accomplished God levels...over a thousand years ago he died along with his family and friends to stop an evil...their sacrifice was granted a second chance at life...to come back in new bodies...and I think you already know this."

She said then gave a smile. She then heard what he said about her always smiling and she said with a chuckle, "Hehehehe...just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's going on underneath. A smile is a valuable tool, my dear. It inspires your friends, keeps your enemies guessing, and ensures that, no matter what comes your way, YOU'RE the one in control...I also smile because its a whole lot easier than frowning all the time."

[Ruba]

Ruba listened as his mother spoke on what Yamoshi truly was. He listened intently and waited for her to finish, but was surprised that she answer his question about her smile. He thought a moment and gave a smile to her and said, "So as long as I smile I can keep my enemies on their toes, inspire my people, and maintain control. Now that I know who Yamoshi really is, I'll hold myself at a higher regard than I have been."

[Teelo]

Ruba listened as his mother spoke on what Yamoshi truly was. He listened intently and waited for her to finish, but was surprised that she answer his question about her smile. He thought a moment and gave a smile to her and said, "So as long as I smile I can keep my enemies on their toes, inspire my people, and maintain control. Now that I know who Yamoshi really is, I'll hold myself at a higher regard than I have been."

Teelo stood patiently by Ruba and she could see he was catching what she was saying and when he responded about the smile she said, "Yes...I smile can be a very helpful tool...but to those close to you we may be able to see through it..." She said then paused then said, "Though right now I need for you to listen to me ...I know you have been dealing with lots of frustrating things this past year...and don't think I have forgotten that crazy stunt you almost pulled when you wanted to end your life...you are not so weak that you would stoop so low." She said and gave him a hard look then she said as she began to lightly pace the floor. She then said, "There is so much I do not think you fully understand my son...I told you who Yamoshi was but now i know you must have questions regarding Yamoshi's brother Akumo...the same one who resides in Devlin..." She said and stopped and turned to look at him. She then said, "Haven't you wondered why Devlin always has a hard time coping with everything...and with you?..." She asked him then said, "You two are always at odds because Yamoshi and Akumo were at odds back in their time and somethings never really change...because your counterparts are just like they were...always feuding " She said and looked down a moment.

Teelo then stopped and looked at Ruba and she said, "I want you to understand that at this moment Yamoshi has gotten the one thing he wanted most...to be reunited with his family and he has been given that and now I think you should take the time to let Yamoshi tell you everything...when you realize everything that is at stake then I hope you can help fix your friendship with Devlin because I do not think we need another past incident..." She said then paused then said, "Also there is another thing that I think you are ready to know..." She said then paused and got his full attention and she said, "I know for many years you have wondered why we are so far outside the reach of other people...and why that moon you so like to go train on still stands untouched by your power...well it is kind of simple...Planet Azurath stands on the boarder of universe 7...the universe we live in...and our neighbor universe 6...and within our side of the line we are guardians to one of the sacred Super Dragonballs and the great dragon god Zalama...the creator of all the dragonballs..." She said then paused. She then said, "Rothg is actually our dragonball and it is usually hidden under a crust of debris and we guard it carefully because if these dragonballs are found and used there can be many many problems...now i want you to be very selective on who you tell this too because the less who know the better...and do not worry I trust Rasha to know about the dragonball...I will let you decide if you want Devlin or Sebas know."

[Ruba]

Ruba listened as Teelo explained everything to him about Yamoshi and Akumo's past history and how it has effected him and Devlin. He sat back in his chair and took in the information she gave him about the two beings and let out a sigh. He then heard his mother speak on why Rothg was a sacred place and how it was a planet size dragon ball. He listened as she told the story of the Dragon God Zalama and that it was hers, and now his, sacred duty to protect it. He gave a nod and said, "I will defend the dragon ball and will tell no one. The less people know the better, and if we tell Devlin, he'll want to experiment on it and see what its capable of. As for Devlin..."

Ruba broke off as he thought on what to say in this moment. He and Devlin hadn't been talking since the incident with the black hole. It was apparent to Ruba that the only reason why Devlin even bothered to help him ascend was so he could ascend as well. If it weren't for Bardock showing up when he had, Ruba and Devlin still wouldn't be speaking. He looked at Teelo and said, "Devlin hates me already and won't speak to me anymore. I said terrible things to him after I returned home from Namek... things that aren't so easily forgiven. So I wouldn't worry about him." Ruba looked over toward the side table and saw that Charlemagne had poured him another stiff drink. He grabbed the glass and sipped it and set it down. He looked at Teelo again and said, "Thank you for talking to me mother, but I need to get back to work. I can't rely on Devlin to help me anymore so I have to get my hands dirty."

Ruba got up and walked over toward his desk and turned on his computer. He gave a sigh and said, "Charlemagne... Purge all data on our severs that we have collected from Ragnarok and sever your connection with her. I can't expected Devlin for help so I won't bother copying his data. We need to start working on our past projects to make Azurath a more livable planet than it already is." Ruba began pulling up old files from his computer and began sifting through them to find an appropriate starting point. Charlemagne the responded by saying, "Data has been purge from our servers and connection has been severed. I add one file on to the Ragnarok hard drive for Chikimaru Devlin to find. It is the file for how to increase his A.I.'s proficiency and give her the opportunity to become what he desires her to be." Ruba gave a nod and began to get lost in his work, forgetting that Teelo was still there.

She then heard him speak of Devlin hating him and she said, "You seem so sure of yourself but when was the last time you talked to him or even apologized for being a real jerk at him...because I seem to remember that you were angry and hurting that day and your emotions were off kilter and it caused you to speak some pretty harsh words at him...plus you completely overlooked what I told you so let me make this clear...Devlin holds the soul of Akumo and he was responsible for turning his son Cumber evil and getting several universes erased...if you cause too much of a rift in Devlin you may wake that beast back up and things could go bad all over again so maybe you should work hard to be there for Devlin instead of causing him to leave..." Teel said as she looked at Ruba.

She then watched as he got up and excuse himself and she said, "I will let you finish doing what you are doing then you are to come and start helping your people and be the king they need." She then turned and left out of his secret room and disappeared from sight.

[Ruba]

Ruba was focusing on the construction of a hydro-electric dam when he heard his mother speak to him about Devlin again. He slowed his work and waited a moment and gave a sigh as she left his lab. He stopped and began to think on what he should do about Devlin as Charlemagne said, "Ruba, if I might ask... What do you plan to do now since Devlin seems to be distancing himself from you?" Ruba had been thinking about this for a long time and hadn't found an answer yet. He sighed and said, "What do you think I should do Charlemagne? One of your protocols is to advise me, so please share your wisdom with me." He heard a ding as Charlemagne began to work on a response. A few moments passed as he said, "Give him opportunities to spend time with other people. Another way to give Devlin space is encouraging him to meet with and spend time with his other friends. You might remind him how much they enjoy being with his friends or suggest times he could see them when you'll be doing something else. This is the best advice I have at the moment for you, Ruba."

Ruba took in a deep breath and gave a long exhale as he took in the information he had received. The advice was sound and probably the best thing for Devlin at the moment. Maybe if Devlin went to see the prince or any of the other saiyans he was on a team with, his mood would improve. He gave a sigh and said, "It looks like they are still sparring on Rothg and I won't have time to talk to him until they are done. Thank you for your words of wisdom, Charlemagne." The console gave off a delighted chirp and Ruba went back to working on the dam. After he and Charlemagne finished its design, He left the lab and made his way to the construction team.

He gave them his plans and directed them to where in the river they should start building. He then explained that they also need metal and concrete that could handle intense pressure from the flow of the river. The working speed of the Azurian people still astonished Ruba to this day. Within a few hours of working the Azurians had complete finished building the dam and included the hydro electric turbine. Ruba smiled as he congratulated them on a job well done. Next he had to figure out how to get power to all of the house and running water as well. His next job was to build the Azurians better homes.
